About Our League

Mission

The objective of the Cave Spring National Little League shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.

To achieve this objective Cave Spring National Little League will provide a supervised coed program under the rules and regulations of Little League Baseball, Incorporated.  All Directors, Officers and Members shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of games is secondary and the molding of future citizens is of prime importance.

Tee Ball (League Age 4-6 year olds)  An introduction to the game of baseball. The Tee Ball division serves as a starting point to introduce kids to the basic fundamentals of baseball in a fun and non-competitive setting. Teams are relatively small and games last approximately 60 minutes. Batters will hit off of a Tee and no scores or standings will be kept. The goal of this division is to encourage a love for the game and to prepare kids to learn fundamental skills that will help them in their journey through Little League. Our Tee Ball program is open to any 4 or 5 year old in the Roanoke area. However, League Age 6 year olds must live within our boundaries or attend a Roanoke County Public School. Any League Age 6 year old that has not played a season of Tee Ball MUST register for this division.

Machine Pitch (League Age 6-8 year olds)  - This division focuses on learning how to hit a machine pitched baseball with more focus on the fundamentals of defense and proper swing mechanics. Rosters continue to be kept relatively small, with game times running 90 minutes. Innings are limited to 3 outs or 5 runs scored (whichever occurs first). No score or standings will be kept. The goal of this division is for each player to improve their skill at hitting a pitched baseball and continuing to improve on their defensive fundamentals. League Age 6 year olds that have already played at least one season of Tee Ball are highly encouraged to move up to Machine Pitch.

Minor League (League Age 8-10 year olds) - This division focuses on learning how to play competitive baseball while teaching kids to pitch for the first time.
